In July 19, 2009, Full Tilt attempted to overcome the world record for the highest number of players playing in an online poker tournament. This incident was part of their fifth anniversary celebration. They successfully ruined the old record of 35,000 by hosting a tournament with 50,000 players, but this record was surpassed later that day by Poker Stars.
